The UNESCO Chair main undergraduate training program is the Panama Field Study Semester. The educational goal of the Panama Field Study Semester can be summarized as follows: "We, as citizens of developed countries, view environmental "problems" of the World through our Western eyes. People from other countries will have a different assessment of important environmental issues. By bringing students into contact with other realities, we help our students build a new, broader vision of the World's environment”. The Panama Field Study Semester Brings is offered every year in the winter term to 25-26 McGill students and 5-6 Panamanians. It provides a unique field-based hands-on learning experience on environmental and developmental issues in a developing country.
